Everdure e2go Barbecue

Challenge
Everdure is an Australian company and one of the largest suppliers of domestic gas radiant heaters throughout Australia.  

Tiller Design has built a strong 4 year working relationship with Everdure which has now been responsible for creating a number of new product lines that have succeeded in combining a fresh, modern design with Everdure’s established technical knowledge.

Tiller Design’s brief was to design and develop a user friendly portable barbecue, that can be serviced easily and is considerate of the environment both in use and at the end of its life.
 

Concept Generation

Solution
The e2go is the result of extensive collaborative cooking and user research between Tiller Design, the Everdure team and professional chefs.  In depth market research located problems and gaps in currently available products which identified opportunities for innovation.
This formed the basis for initial concept generation. As the initial concept sketch was developed into the final product, visual product design cues were balanced with functional and safety requirements.

The striking, strongly user-focused design introduces a number of features that make portable gourmet cooking easy, healthy, practical and easy to clean. The e2go is an extremely versatile cooking platform, incorporating a fat-draining griddle and flat plate, while also being able to roast inside its hood. The light weight and ergonomic interface ensures safe, easy one-person transport. Inbuilt storage provides ample room for users to bring along their favourite utensils.  Dish washer safe removable servery’s allow storage and management of food and waste.
 

Functionality Rendering

Result
The technical design was a collaborative achievement between Tiller Design and  Everdure's R&D teams, resulting in a product that is efficient, serviceable and long-lasting. The burner was designed to burn efficiently within the overall design, producing the required heat, when needed, and minimising gas consumption. The unique design of the roasting hood allows for maximum heat retention reducing gas consumption and cooking times.

The cast aluminium cooking plate provides heat evenly and quickly.

The product is able to be entirely de-constructed for serviceability and for end of life-cycle recycling.

High use parts are removable, dishwasher safe and replaceable if worn or damaged.

The e2go is compliant with Australian Standard AS 4557-2004.
